Description
We will met at the Westsyde shopping centre to car convoy to trailhead (Dairy Road – about 10 mins up the road).  There are limited parking spots so we will carpool if possible.
The trail takes us up a well defined equestrian trail and crosses into an ecological reserve (entailing a fence crossing); here starts the off trail section which is steep and grassy.  After the reserve we cross back into provincial parkland and go up and over to follow the pipeline down to Deep Lake itself.  No pipeline crossing. Lunch will be around the lake.
We then follow a lower forested trail which in the spring is full of balsam roots, and will rejoin our upward trail to finish the loop. I doubt whether any cows will be in there now, and bears are probably going to sleep, but bring bear spray anyway as a precaution.  Good boots and poles an asset. The hike should be able to run rain or shine, maybe a wee bit of frost on the ground or even a skiff of snow by then ….. who knows.
Am happy for you to bring your furry friend but you may have to keep them leashed, or away from participants who have allergies.
