Description

This is a double track hike up to a very scenic fire lookout.   We climb 816m over 8.5 km starting in the forest and opens up on the ridge.   Grassy meadows and views extend south and west at the top of the mountain at an old fire lookout where there is a 360 degree view of Marble Range, Coast Range, Scarped Range and the interior plateau.

We drive through Cache Creek and 7.5 km west of Ashcroft we take the Hat Creek FSR (good gravel road) for 13 km.   We park at the junct of Oregon Jack PP and Cornwall Hills pp.   From here it is possible to drive to the top with a good hwb 4×4 but we will hike it.   If you wish to bring your furry friend remember a leash as we are hiking in a provincial park.

We will meet at the Aberdeen meet up spot at 0800 and those who wish to carpool can do so from there.   We will be following KHC social distancing policy throughout the event.   Remember to keep a mask and sanitizer in your pack, and do not attend if you have had any covid symptoms in the previous two weeks.
