Description
A late-February winter hike) around the shores of Kamloops Lake
- Dress for the conditions
- Meet to carpool at the Ord Road meet-up spot (avoid going out Ord Road – use Tranquille instead)
- Drive to the trailhead on a rough road
- Hike for about 2 hours
- Stop for lunch at the end point on a beach
- Recommended – poles, good boots, layered clothing, something to sit on, a thermos, gloves, toque, etc.
- Crossing Tranquille River near the mouth may or may not be a challenge; sometimes it takes dexterity (rock-hopping), sometimes it takes water shoes with a change on the other shore, and sometimes we can cross on the ice, but we won’t know until we get there. I will leave it up to each person to prepare accordingly.
- We may encounter mud or ice, but most of the route will be dry.
- We will hike around the bay, over the bluff, along the shoreline and stop for lunch at a point.
- A scenic route.
