Description
Join hike leader’s Ed, Lois (Hunter) and co-leader Sheila Powell, on this “not-to-be-missed” historic and momentous occasion to the top of Mara Mountain in celebration of Canada’s 150th birthday. Y’Eh!!!
There are several routes to choose from to access the summit Guests are welcome but *must* meet the fitness requirements (please discuss with Ed and Lois prior to the event). In addition, guests must also submit a waiver form.
Lastly, to stimulate some good old Canuck spirit, we encourage as many of you who sign up with the Hunter/Powell team to dress for the occasion and will award a small prize to the one who is voted #1 Canuck in our group. So…get decked-out in your Canadiana-themed finery eg: flags, scarves, pins, face paint, tattoos, ties, hockey, moose, red ‘n’white socks, Canadian Geese, beavers, etc., etc., Let your imagination go wild “Eh”!!
As sections of the route are exposed, do bring a generous amount of water, a sun hat, and sunscreen. There may also be a couple of short, steep sections, so poles are also recommended.
Alcohol is strictly prohibited.
- This is a steeper, but shorter, route to the summit of Mt Mara. Â Some longer sections of off-trail hiking. Â It is still tick season so take precautions, wild flowers should be out. Â Good boots recommended, and hiking poles.
- Â Return by the same route. Â Participants are asked to flollow the same route (parallel tracks okay) and are expected to stay together.
- We will be joining Doug’s group but may take a slower pace down back to the vehicles.
