Description
To celebrate our country’s 150 birthday a hike up Mara Mountain is planned for June 17.
We would like to see 150 KHC members make the climb. Almost all hike leaders will be leading hikes to the summit from many different directions. Each route will have different distances and terrain so choosing the correct route for your hiking ability is very important. Family and friends may be included and you must discuss their abilities with the hike leader. A KHC waiver will be required from all non KHC members.
Highlights are:
- Our MP will have 150 hand-held commemorative flags and a flag pole flag. The plan may allow for us to plant a permanent flag on the summit.
- There will be a “Canada 150” cake and a liter of cool water available at the summit.
- We are working on the possibility of having an airplane doing fly by and taking a group picture.
- Certificates of achievement are being work on.
- Your commitment before month end would be greatly appreciated.
Our hike leaders have published their routes to the summit of Mara on the website.
June 12, I’m going up early as there are several activities that need to be done before every arrives.
