Description
This hike is aimed at any members who are training or hope to participate in some backpacking trips this summer. We are going to hike around the Barnes Lake loop in Barnhartvale, slowly, taking breaks as we would on a backpack. Each member must be carrying a loaded backpack of at least 25 lbs (more if you think you will be carrying more weight).
This should help you find out where your pack fits, or not, sore spots, strap adjustments etc.
If you are planning your first ever backpack this season then this outing is for you. Even if you have been backpacking for many years it is a good idea to try your pack, and body, out before heading into the backcountry for several days. Wear the boots you will be using for your trip, this will also show you any hot spots. Bring poles to help support your knees and back with a heavy pack.
We will meet opposite Barnhartvale Hall at 1000 and hike the loop, which is a hilly well marked trail. We will stop for lunch on the trail.
