Description

As part of getting fit for backpacking season we will be wearing LOADED BACKPACKS (20/25 pounds minimum).  We will be hiking at a slower pace, staying together and taking more breaks to adjust packs, etc.  These are easy to moderate trails with rolling hills, grassland and forest.  We will hike approx. 7 to 9 km total.

Bring any equipment that you would like to practice with as there will be an opportunity to set up tents, use camping stoves and filter water.  Lunch can be cooked on your stoves and/or coffee/tea can be made.  Please bring enough drinking water for the day as I’m not sure what the condition of our water source will be.  It’s usually pretty murky, but might be a good practice for the water filter.

Meet at Market Fresh Foods in Dallas for 9:30 am, leaving by 9:45 am.  From there we will carpool the short drive to the trailhead.  (approx. $3 to $4 if you carpool)
