Description
This hike is an off trail jaunt in the Deep Lake/Community Grasslands trail area. We start on the Deep Lake trail and grasslands trail, then head off up some steep grassy hills for a circuit around and over the hills. Some steep sections both up and down. The loop may cross the pipeline once or twice, but I haven’t been on this loop since the pipeline has been constructed so there could be some detours. Hopefully there will still be some balsam roots flowering for us.
Lovely views on this hike; and we will have lunch at a high point. There is a lot of off trail, so potential for ticks, loose rocks, awkward traversing. The loop is about 10 km long but is quite strenuous. If the weather turns nasty we will shorten the loop as the majority of the loop is out in the open over the ridges.
We will meet at the Ida lane parking area at 0930; there is limited parking there so we will have to be creative with our vehicles. Hence the reduced numbers of participants allowed on this one. We will be practicing social distancing at all times on this event.
