In discussion with the Kamloops Cycling groups responsible for a number of trails in our area, please note the status of the trails:

“The original agreement with the landowners in Pineview never did include year round access. As this was primarily developed as a mountain biking trail network the original agreement allows for access from March until November 30. In previous years there was no organized Winter activities in Pineview and it kinda flew under the radar. Some comments were made at the KBRA AGM by some individuals about dedicated Fat Bike only trails in the network. These comments did not come from us and were unauthorized. The representative from Rec Sites and Trails was at the meeting and this created a bit of a chain reaction of events resulting in the land owners reviewing the original agreement. As Winter use is not part of the agreement it was decided to close the network to public access for this Winter. We are working on the possible year round access but that will take an amendment to the original agreement which takes at least 4 months. The network has become a popular area for runners, hikers and cyclists but we just ask the public to respect the landowners wishes for this Winter. ”

I am keeping an open channel with the group for further discussions.

At this time we are advising KHC hike leaders and members that the Pineview and Ironmask Trails are not open for KHC use.
