Tranquille River
Location
West of Kamloops on the Tranquille – Criss Creek Road
Road Access
Go west on Tranquille Road and stay right at the jucntion to cross the railroad tracks. Before crossing over the river, take a right turn to the trailhead parking lot.
Trailhead
The trail is really a double track from the parking area.

Optimal Group Size
The double track accommodates smaller or larger groups. At the end the single track is better for a smaller group.

It is possible to snowshoe up the route in winter when there is enough snow.

4 km return. Explorations can be done farther upstream, but it becomes a scramble route.

A good route for dogs.
Trail Info
A double track up the river to the old dam. Beyond that is a single track for 15 minutes, then all progress requires wading or scrambling.
General Notes
The enclosed green area part way up is Pine Park, a day site for field trips from the Tranquille facility.
The whole river gorge area was gold-panned for decades and it was one of the top gold-producing rivers in the province.
