BEGIN:VCALENDAR VERSION:2.0 PRODID:-//wp-events-plugin.com//6.4.7.3//EN TZID:America/Vancouver X-WR-TIMEZONE:America/Vancouver BEGIN:VEVENT UID:602@kamloopshikingclub.net DTSTART;TZID=America/Vancouver;VALUE=DATE:20160520 DTEND;TZID=America/Vancouver;VALUE=DATE:20160524 DTSTAMP:20160520T010603Z URL:https://kamloopshikingclub.net/events/wells-gray-long-weekend/ SUMMARY:Wells Gray Long Weekend DESCRIPTION:May is the best time to be in Wells Gray.  No bugs\, no crowds and the rivers are at their highest levels.\n\nThe plan is to camp at the Clearwater Campsite Friday\, Saturday and Sunday.  The campsite typicall y does not fill up during this long weekend\, so an early registration sho uld not be required.  All participates will be required to book the camps ites themselves - as the date gets closer we can coordinate sharing of cam psites and car pooling.\n\nThe event will be weather dependent - camping i n the rain is no fun.  The leader will monitor the weather as the event draws near.\n\nWe will set up camp Friday night and share a fire.  The me et up spot is Site 66 in the Falls Campground\n\nSaturday we will meet at Site 66 at 9:45 and leave at 10:00 sharp.  The hike to the Easter Bluff s Loop  starts at the campsite.  This is a park trail which includes 2 n ice lookouts\, a waterfall\, a trip through a lava flow\, and the Easter B luffs.  This is a long but moderate trail with a distance of 16 km and an elevation gain of 270m.\n\nSunday we will meet at Site 66 at 9:45 and lea ve at 10:00 sharp.  We will visit a number of the falls in the park.  Fr om the campsite\, we will drive to Bailey's Chute and do an easy route tha t includes Bailey's Chute\, Marcus Falls\, Myanth Falls and West Lake.  T his is an easy 6 km loop.  From there we will travel to the north side of Dawson Falls.  This is an easy 2.5 km loop which offers view of the fall s the tourists never see.  From there\, if the group is still enthusiasti c\, we will drive down to Moul Falls.  This is an easy hike to the falls and then a set of stairs down to the falls.  It is a 6 km return tip\, bu t well worth it.  We can walk behind these falls - although rain gear is advised - you will get wet.\n\nMonday we pack up camp and head home.  On the way home we will stop at the Wells Gray Info Center at 10:00.  From t here we will shuttle a few cars down to the Dutch Lake Treailhead and then proceed to the Triple Falls Trailhead.  The Triple Decker Falls hike is 8 km all downhill.  We will pass 2 falls and walk along the bottom of bas alt cliffs that will tower overhead.\n\nI have limited the participate spa ce to 12 as this is the number I am comfortable leading.  If leaders join the group and are willing to lead a separate group\, I will increase the participant number.\n\nThis is a simple "car camping trip" so I will assum e all participates will have a tent/trailer or other form of shelter.
